Karan Johar to Remake ‘OK Kanmani’ in Hindi

The love saga of Aadhi and Tara in the Tamil blockbuster ‘O Kadhal Kanmani’ directed by Mani Ratnam is set to be remade in Hindi. Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar would produce the film to be directed by Shaad Ali.
The as yet untitled film will have Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead roles. After the success of ‘Aashiqui 2’, Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor are all set to team up again for this film. Other characters are yet to be confirmed.

‘O Kadhal Kanmani’ marked Ratnam’s comeback to romance genre after a decade. Starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen, OK Kanmani was one of the biggest Tamil hits of 2015. The film won the hearts of the audience and also got the thumbs up from critics.
The Hindi screenplay of “Ok Kanmani” is reportedly being co-written by Mani Ratnam and Shaad Ali, and the film will go on floors in early 2016. AR Rahman, who composed music for the Tamil film, will compose music for the remake too.
It was Karan who posted about the remake on his Twitter page. “Honoured to collaborate with Mani Ratnam on the recreation of his labour of love….directed by Shaad Ali,” he posted.
