Harry Potter Returns, 8th Book in July

Here is good news for Harry Potter fans – the eighth book of the series is to be released this July. J K Rowling announced Wednesday that the hardback edition of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – Parts I & II will be released on July 31.

It sees Harry as a father and an overworked Ministry of Magic employee.

The newest Potter installment is based on a play and will, in fact, debut as a play a day before the book release. It will be the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage.

The play was not written by Rowling herself. It is from an original new story by J K Rowling, playwright Jack Thorne and theatre director John Tiffany.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will tell the “untold part” of the boy wizard’s story, including the story of the lives of his murdered parents, said Rowling.

We last saw Harry saying goodbye to his children at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts, in the epilogue of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” picks up after that scene, with father of three Harry Potter employed at the Ministry of Magic. Both Harry and his son Albus struggle with their family legacy and against the darkness.

“We are so thrilled to be publishing the script of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” said David Shelley, CEO of Little, Brown Book Group, in a statement.

“J.K. Rowling and her team have received a huge number of appeals from fans who can’t be in London to see the play and who would like to read the play in book format — and so we are absolutely delighted to be able to make it available for them.”

The hardback and ebook will go on sale at 12.01 am on July 31.
