The 1993 Mumbai blasts accused and death row convict Yakub Memon moved the Supreme Court against his execution scheduled for July 30. In his writ petition, Memon said he has not yet exhausted his legally permissible remedies to seek commutation of death penalty. He said his petition seeking mercy is still pending with the Maharashtra governor and executing him prior to the governor deciding his plea would be illegal. The 53-year-old was convicted in 2007 by a Mumbai court for financing the terror attack and arranging for the training of terrorists in Pakistan.
