With the consent from action committee protesting against the extension of the runway of the Kannur International Airport, the deferred survey work resumed. Ports Minister K. Babu has said the hurdles for acquiring the additional land have been cleared and the extension would be from 3050 meters to 3400 meters. As the action committee of local residents agreed to the extension, the works stalled 90 days ago have recommenced. The minister said that work was progressing at record speed despite the loss of 90 days due to protest against blasting.
