If you use monosodium glutamate (MSG or ajinomoto) in food items, display this information clearly on your premises. This is what the Commissioner of Food Safety T V Anupama has stipulated in an order to all hotels, restaurants, bakeries and other eateries in the state. Those who violate the order will have to pay a fine of up to Rs 2 lakh and can have their licence cancelled. According to the orders issued by the commissioner, the public display should clearly state, “this establishment uses MSG as a flavouring agent in the following food items.
