Kerala’s first national level film and visual arts institute, the K R Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts, was dedicated to the nation by the Vice-President Hamid Ansari on Monday. An autonomous body under the Government of Kerala, it is located at Thekkumthala 27 km off Kottayam. Lauding the state government for setting it up, Ansari emphasized the need for institutes of international standards to equip future generations of film/audio-visual artists with technical as well as aesthetic creativity aspects apart from social awareness.
