Dulquer Salmaan to Act in Kerala MVD’s Short Film

Who else but Dulquer Salmaan for a biker’s role in the entire Malayalam film industry?

The young star has been ruling millions of hearts after his performance in Sameer Thahir’s ‘Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi’, where he essayed with aplomb the role of Kasi who sets out to Nagaland on a motorcycle in search of his love.

Now, as part of Kerala motor vehicle department’s safe riding campaign, the actor, son of south superstar Mammootty, will again be playing lead role of a rider in a social awareness short film.

The film, to be made by the students of St Joseph’s College of Communication in Changanassery, Kottayam, will be produced by Indian car maker Maruti Suzuki.

The short film aims to create awareness among the younger generation on the importance of riding safely on roads. Dulquer, who is known for his passion for bikes, has agreed to work for free in this Rs. 12 lakh film.

Transport Commissioner Tomin Thachankary confirmed that the film will be screened on popular TV channels, theatres, railway stations and bus stands in association with the public relations department of the Kerala government.

In 2014, Dulquer’s role in ‘Bangalore Days’, in which he plays Arjun, an aggressive bike rider was also a favorite of Malayalam film audiences.

The shooting for the short film has already started in Kochi.

Dulquer’s upcoming film ‘Charlie’ co-starring Parvathy Menon and directed by Martin Prakkat, is expected to hit screens on 20 November.
