Calicut Journal Web Portal Launched
Minister for Social Justice and Panchayat M K Muneer launched the Malayalam web portal Calicut Journal today in Kozhikode. The minister carried out the switch-on ceremony at a function held at his residence.
A first of its kind web portal from Kozhikode, Calicut Journal promises to update you on all the interesting current affairs and culture news from Kozhikode, and also give you a heads up on all that’s happening across Kerala and the world at large with news stories, opinion pieces, comments sections and much more.
Calicut Journal is an initiative of Consurge Media, a media concern floated by a collective of writers and journalists under the chairmanship of K P Sulaiman an entrepreneur in the education sector who runs various educational institutions in his native Malappuram and in the Middle East.
At the ceremony, Kerala Editor which is also a part of Consurge Media, was officially launched as well.
Apart from K P Sulaiman, chairman, Consurge Media; E Rajesh, editor, Calicut Journal and Kerala Editor; and C T Anoop, CEO, Calicut Journal and Kerala Editor; present on the occasion were Sidiqque Manayil, Biju P J, Shoukathali P P, Mehajoob S V, Nithin Jacob Antony, K K Sreejith, N M Ragesh and K K Sumod.
A seminar on ‘Television and New Media’ will be held in the evening at Hotel Alakapuri as part of the launch function. Shajahan Kaliyath, co-ordinating editor, Asianet; T M Harshan, news editor, Mathrubhumi News; E Saneesh, senior news editor, Media One; Manila C Mohan, copy editor, Mathrubhumi Weekly; E Rajesh, Editor, Calicut Journal and Kerala Editor and S V Mehajoob, principal correspondent, Calicut Journal and Kerala Editor will participate.
A ghazal concert by young ghazal singer Mazha is also slated for the evening as part of the function.
